Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole-school framework that promotes positive behaviour across our school and helps us ensure that we have a safe and supportive learning environment for students, staff and visitors.

We are committed to explicitly teaching students the expected behaviours while establishing clear and consistent boundaries. Each week, our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Team selects a specific focus area from our Behaviour Matrix, which is then explicitly taught to students in the classroom. This expected behaviour is reinforced throughout the week to ensure consistency.

Our staff take a proactive and preventative approach, providing students with the necessary support to help them succeed at school. We closely monitor student outcomes, allowing us to identify those who may need additional support and offer targeted assistance when required.

We have three core expectations at our school:

  1. Safety is our right

  2. Learning is our responsibility

  3. Respect is our way

Every child has the right to learn, and every teacher has the right to teach. Positive actions are celebrated and affirmed through our PBL dollars, fostering an environment where students are recognised for their effort and success.

Strong relationships are fundamental in resolving challenging issues. A restorative approach allows students to communicate their concerns, to resolve issues and to restore relationships in meaningful ways following mistakes, disagreements and misunderstandings. We promote reflection, restoration and forgiveness as critical elements of quality relationships.
