Transition to Prep

We understand how important it is to feel welcomed and supported as you and your child join our school community. That’s why we offer a variety of opportunities for you to engage with us and make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone in your family.

Familiarisation Sessions:

After enrolment, we invite you and your child to participate in familiarisation sessions. These informal gatherings allow you both to get acquainted with our school routines in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Activities during these sessions include a morning gathering ritual, developmental playtimes, simple crafts, a visit to our church, outdoor games, time on the adventure playground, and the chance to borrow books from the library.

Orientation Sessions: Following the familiarisation sessions, we invite your child to attend two orientation sessions with their teachers. During this time, parents are invited to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, while also attending a special session to help guide your child’s transition into the school environment.

Join Our School Activities: We love involving families in our school life! You’re always welcome to join us for events like Family Fun Day, our Science Fair, Art Show, and Carols Evening. Stay connected by liking and following our Facebook and Instagram Page – it’s a great way to stay updated and feel more connected to our community.

Tailored Transitions: If your child needs a gentler, slower introduction to school, please let us know. We can arrange additional informal visits over an extended period before the official start of school. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of every student.

Buddy System: Over the holiday break, your child will receive a letter from their Holy Rosary buddy – an older student who will guide and support them throughout their first year in Prep. We’ve found that these buddy relationships are truly treasured and help make the transition even smoother.

Gradual Start for Preps: Starting school is an exciting but sometimes overwhelming experience for little ones. To ease the transition, our Preps begin with shorter days. Throughout February, our Preps enjoy a rest day every Wednesday. If needed, our OSHC program is available on this day.

Parent and Carer’s Session:

We’re here to support you and your child every step of the way. Welcome to our school family!
