Charism

Shining with Mercy Spirit

At Holy Rosary School, Mercy is more than a word—it’s love in action. Inspired by the life and work of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy, we strive to show God’s loving kindness and compassion in all we do.

Catherine dedicated her life to serving others, especially the most vulnerable, and encouraged those around her to do the same. Her legacy lives on in the Mercy values of compassion, service, justice, and dignity—qualities at the heart of our school community.

Since 1915, when the Mercy Sisters first began their work in Kensington, Holy Rosary has been committed to providing a rich, values-based education and building a strong sense of belonging. That tradition continues today as we nurture a community that honours and lives the Mercy Spirit.

Each year, we celebrate those who embody these values through our Mercy Spirit Award, presented on Holy Rosary Day in October—a special time to reflect on and renew our commitment to living with compassion and purpose.

The simplest and most practical lesson I know is to resolve to be good today but better tomorrow.
